At last, the Chicago White Sox have torn off the bandage. After fewer than two seasons in charge, the team fired manager Pedro Grifol amid what can only be characterised as a horrible and disastrous 2024 season.

The statement leaves questions about who made the final decision to end Grifol's time in Chicago—new general manager Chris Getz or troubled owner Jerry Reinsdorf.
